Massage in General
Research shows massage reduces the heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion and increases endorphins – the body’s natural painkillers.
A smooth, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, helps to improve circulation and range of movement and relieves muscular tension. This is an oil base massage. The main purpose is to increase the blood circulation, oxygen flow and release toxins from the muscles. It involves the use of palm, thumb, forearms and elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscle (soft tissue) by long gliding strokes, pressing, kneading, bending and stretching. This is a relaxing vigorous form of massage, very suitable for reducing tiredness and stress, both physical and emotional.
Massage can help ease the many aches and pains you experience during pregnancy as your body is changing. Massage helps to reduce muscle cramps and painful trigger points. It will relieve pain in the muscles and joints of your legs and lower and upper back. Massage helps to increase flexibility, making it easier for your body to adjust to its changing shape. Reduces excess fluid retention, eases constipation, gas and heartburn, slows down the progress of varicose veins and relieves headaches. For the comfort of your expectant mothers, we now have two pregnancy massage tables.
Therapeutic massage is an excellent way to assist people in improving the quality of their life. Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress as well as promote health and wellness. Massage therapy improves functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness. Therapeutic massage enhances medical treatment.
Hot Stone Therapy
Stone Therapy is a type of thermotherapy. It uses deep penetrating heat from smooth basalt stones and alternating cold from marble stones. Physiological benefits of alternating temperatures to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.
Stone Therapy goes beyond the physical experience of typical massage, and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well being, creating a positive approach to the “Body – Mind – Spirit” philosophy.
This vascular gymnastics stimulates your circulatory and lymphatic systems and assists your body in self-healing.
The ultimate goal of the therapy is relaxation that will bring balance into your life and will alleviate chronic and acute problems.
You can expect to be comfortably seated in a chair, and fully clothed, in a relaxing atmosphere. No oils are used in this massage but are optional at the end. The optional Ayurvedic oil not only nourishes the hair, but also calms the nervous system, as the roots of one's hair are connected to nerve fibres.
